The abrasion testing machine simulates abrasion condition which is used to evaluate the effect of abrasion resistance of concrete and concrete materials. The test is used to determine the abrasion resistance in terms of wear depth of concrete in mm. The machine can be used in laboratory as well as field.
Working Principles
The method use revolving disk machine which operates by sliding and scuffing of steel disk in conjunction with abrasive grit. The revolving disk rotates in circular path at 12 rev/min (12 rpm) which beings individual turns on their own axis at 280 rev//min. A uniform load of 22N on each abrasion disk is applied. Silicon carbide is used as abrasive girt of 250µ is used. Micrometer Bridge is used to determine the wear depth of concrete surface. The total time of test is 1hour and 5 minutes.

User Instructions
- The sample size of the slab should minimum of 300 mm x300mm x 100mm.
- The sample surface should be uniform.
- The grade of concrete, w/c ratio and compressive strength of the concrete should be specified.
