Crèche and Day Care Centre

The provisions of 'The Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act', 2017 are effective from April 1, 2017 and the crèche facility (Section 111 A) was effective from July 1, 2017. The Maternity Benefit (Amendment) Act 2017 protects the employment of women during the time of her maternity and entitles her of a 'maternity benefit' i.e. full paid absence from work to take care for her child. The act is applicable to all establishments employing 10 or more persons and the crèche facility is mandatory for every establishment employing 50 or more employees.

In view of the above, a crèche and day care facility was established in CSIR-CRRI and inaugurated on 16th July, 2017. The use of crèche facility is proposed to be extended to children of permanent employees CRRI including temporary, daily wage, consultant and contractual personnel. The Creche and Day Care centre is located within the CRRI campus to facilitate the parents.

The CSIR-Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) has executed the Palna scheme of the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MoW&CD) to adhere to the crèche stipulations of the Maternity Benefit Act. This initiative encompasses the provision of crèche services for children aged up to six years, emphasizing both quality and accessibility for employed mothers.

Crèche Timings:

Crèche timings are flexible and designed to align with the parents' work schedules, with a standard 7.5-hour workday and 26 working days per month. The Maternity Benefit Act allows women four visits to the crèche per day, including rest intervals.

Infrastructure/Space and Activities:

CRRI Crèche & Day Care is on the ground floor to ensure safety of children. Crèche has two rooms with AC, Heaters and attached two washrooms with geyser to ensure that children can play, rest, and learn. The Crèche has a safe and potable drinking water source with a water purifier installed. The Crèche has a kitchen with microwave and fridge to keep the food healthy and tasty. CCTV cameras are installed in the crèche and access is given to the parents. Food and other personal items are arranged by the parents.

For indoor entertainment, it has a collection of story books, toys, games and music system. Birthday parties, Christmas day, Holi, Diwali and other festivals are celebrated in the Crèche. Movie show, Yoga, Drawing, dance classes and magic show is being organized during summer camp.

Crèche environment:

We ensure a nurturing, responsive and inclusive environment in the crèche. The crèche is bright, cheerful and child accessible to essential play and learning material. Material prepared by children like their drawings and other art work is being displayed at the crèche to create a child friendly environment.

Crèche equipment/material:

Furniture and play equipments are provided at the crèche to be appropriate to the age and number of children. Trampoline, slide, see-saw and toys are sturdy, safe, with no sharp edges and easy to maintain. Rubber mat is also provided on the floor to avoid any injuries while the kids enjoy the slide etc. Crèche has an experienced attendant, who provides quality attention to each child. Special care is being taken to keep the children safe and secure at the Crèche.

Rules and Regulation:

• Registration Form (420.08 KB) for Crèche facility should be sent at neelamjn19 [dot] crri [at] nic [dot] in atleast 02 working days in advance. Exceptions may be made depending on availability and convenience and subject to approval of the Crèche Committee.
• On a day a maximum number of 10 children may be accommodated, the age of children staying in the crèche should range between 06 months to 06 years.
• The timing for Crèche is 9:00 AM to 05:30 PM (flexible) from Monday to Friday. Crèche will remain closed on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.
