The Walking Profiler is a precision instrument designed to collect surface profile data. These data can be used to accurately assess the characteristics and quality of any continuous paved surface. Typically the surface profile is used to generate a number of internationally recognized roughness index, ride quality and pavement maintenance indices etc.

Roughometer is a high speed device used for measuring pavement surface roughness. It is a portable type equipment and consists of a small accelerometer (sensor) device installed at the rear axle of survey vehicle, a distance measuring instrument, interface module and a controller. The pavement roughness measurements using this equipment are required to be done preferably at a speed in between 40 to 60 km/hr, in order to obtain most reliable and accurate data. The output is in the units of International Roughness Index (IRI).

the Automated Road Survey System is based on the latest survey techniques utilizing Laser, Global Positioning System and Video image processing tools etc. The Survey Vehicle is used for automatic collection of road condition related data for National Highways. The inventory data include measurement of pavement surface roughness, road geometrics (gradient, horizontal curvature and cross slope), Rut Depth using Spread Lasers, Sensor Measure Texture Depth , Mean Profile Depth and GPS coordinates (X, Y, Z) viz. longitude, latitude & altitude etc.

FWD is a Trailer Mounted Dynamic Impulse Loading Device Used for Structural Evaluation of Pavements.

• Sample size of 320 x  260 mm,  height 40 to 120 mm is compacted by electronically controlled mould and roller segment and also with controlled heating devices.

• NCHRP Project 9-29 developed commercial equipment which recommended three simple performance tests:

1.  Dynamic Modulus – Absolute value of Complex Modulus
2.  Flow Number – Number of repeated load cycles (repeated compressive stress pulses)corresponding to the minimum accumulation rate of change of permanent axial strain
3. Flow Time – Constant load is applied to the sample and total deformation is observed.

• Just by a simple twist of the wrist it can take readings along a survey line.
• It measures, displays and records the elevation difference between front and the rear leg.
• The readings that are taken are accurate upto 100th decimal place.
